# The 9 Times Table

Magic patterns that make 9× surprisingly easy!

## 🖐️  The Famous Finger Trick

Hold both hands out. Number fingers 1–10 left to right. Fold down finger N. Left fingers = tens. Right fingers = ones.

9 × 7 = ? Fold down finger 7 → 6 left, 3 right = 63 ✓ 

9 × 4 = ? Fold down finger 4 → 3 left, 6 right = 36 ✓ 

9 × 8 = ? Fold down finger 8 → 7 left, 2 right = 72 ✓ 

## ⭐  Digits Always Add to 9

Add the digits of any 9 times table answer and you always get 9. Use this to check every answer!

9 × 5 = 45 4+5 = 9 ✓ 

9 × 7 = 63 6+3 = 9 ✓ 

9 × 12 = 108 1+0+8 = 9 ✓ 

9 18 27 36 45 54 63 72 81 90 99 108 

## 💡  The 10 − 1 Shortcut

9 is just one less than 10. Multiply by 10 (easy!), then subtract the number once.

9 × 6 = ? 10×6=60, −6 = 54 ✓ 

9 × 8 = ? 10×8=80, −8 = 72 ✓ 

9 × 7 = ? 10×7=70, −7 = 63 ✓
