The motivation to figure it out themselves is far more powerful than being corrected.
  1. Play alongside them, at least once. Not to supervise, but to be genuinely curious. Ask them to show you how the game works. Children who feel like they're teaching you something become remarkably more engaged with the content. It rebalances the power dynamic in a really useful way.
