Add a zero — the simplest rule in maths!
Multiplying by 10 is the easiest rule in times tables: write the number and stick a 0 on the end.
Multiplying by 10 moves every digit one place to the left. Ones become tens, tens become hundreds.
Understanding 10× unlocks shortcuts for many other tables:

8 people = 10 × 8 = 80 teeth (approximately)!
💰 10p Coins
7 ten-pence coins = 10 × 7 = 70p!
🏃 Sprint Relay
A 4-person relay, 10 metres each = 10 × 4 = 40 metres!
